Makena Breanne Manes
Graduate Student
Makena is a fourth-year doctoral candidate in Cancer Biology at the University of Arizona. Her research investigates how the extracellular matrix within the tumor microenvironment regulates breast cancer progression and metastasis, with the goal of identifying mechanisms that may inform new therapeutic strategies. Outside the lab, she enjoys hiking, spending time outdoors, and is always happy to take Diego, the lab's resident dog, on a walk.

Rob is a second year doctoral candidate majoring in Molecular and Cellular Biology. His research involves using AI to model how matrix mechanical properties lead to transcriptomic and morphological changes in a cell, shaping tumor behavior and treatment response. He enjoys playing basketball and cooking.

Nitish is an undergraduate student studying biomedical engineering at Cornell University. He is developing computational tools for whole-slide collagen analysis. Outside the lab, he enjoys playing drums, cards, pickleball, and watching ‘90s sitcoms.

Raffael is an undergraduate student majoring in biochemistry and math at the University of Rochester. His research focus includes machine learning and computational biology.
